A search is underway to reunite a vintage Valentine’s card with the family of its original owner after it was discovered at a Bedale boot sale.
Sue Dickins spotted the card while browsing the Bedale Carboot Fair on Saturday and decided she couldn’t leave it behind.
For £1, she bought the card in the hope of tracing the family of the person it was originally sent to.
The card, which Sue believes dates from the late 1940s, is addressed to Mr B Alderson, Swinithwaite.
Sharing the find on social media, Sue said: “While at the Bedale Bootfair last Saturday, I came across this old Valentine card. I couldn’t leave it behind on the table, so for the princely sum of £1, I bought it.
“I bought it because I thought there might be a chance that I could perhaps reunite the card with the family of the original owner, should they like to have it.
“It looks late 1940s to me – and is addressed to a Mr B Alderson, Swinithwaite.”

Sue is now hoping someone in the local area may recognise the name or know relatives of Mr Alderson so the sentimental keepsake can be returned to the family after spending decades out of their possession.
Anyone who recognises the name or has information about the Alderson family from Swinithwaite can pass it on to Sue via Richmondshire today by emailing info@richmondshiretoday.co.uk
