Season starts proper for Richmondshire Cricket Club teams

This weekend sees the opening of the season proper with the first North Yorkshire South Durham (NYSD) and Darlington and District League (D&D) fixtures.

In the Premiere League the 1 XI start with a tough home fixture against Middlesbrough, who finished last season just a couple of places behind Richmondshire.

Nevertheless, they will go into the match full of confidence after good pre-season performances and at full strength, with Mike Layfield recovered from footballing injuries. Supporters will be looking forward to seeing newly arrived West Indian pro Alston Bobb.

The 2nds start their season on Saturday away to Redcar 1sts.

Batting first Richmondshire got off to a great start with captain for the night Tom Ward getting 31 not out and his opening partner Alex Percival 30 not out.
