Second man in court over Hawes drugs farm

York Magistrates' Court.

A second man has appeared in court following the discovery of a cannabis farm in Hawes.

Son Le, 42, appeared before York Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He is charged with producing cannabis plants.

On Saturday another man, Hao Le, appeared in court following the discovery of the cannabis grow on Thursday last week.

The address for both was given as the unit in Charcoals Way, on the Upper Wenlsyedale Business Park, in Hawes, where the plants were found.

It is understood no pleas were made by the men.

Like the first defendant, the second accused was also remanded to custody and the case was transferred to York Crown Court with the next hearing scheduled for July 15.

The unit was raided on Thursday last week after police received information from a member of the public about suspicious circumstances at a building in a business park.

Two men at the scene were arrested.
