Semerwater dip to raise money for junior football teams

A group of parents will take a Boxing Day dip in Semerwater next week to raise money for a junior football team.

The event is being organised by Hawes United.

The club restarted their junior teams in the summer, welcoming children aged four to 14.

Senior players, who play in the Wensleydale Creamery League, train the juniors on a Wednesday evening.

Organisers say there has been a great local response with between 30 and 40 children turning up regularly in all weathers.

A group of parents are  planning to brave the elements on Boxing Day with a sponsored dip in Semerwater near Bainbridge.

Ben Adams, Steph Bland, Anna Fagg, Joanne Fothergill, Charlie Guy, Nick Prince and Lindsey Whaley have signed up to take the plunge at around 10am to raise money for the junior section.

Everyone is welcome to watch, enjoy the refreshments and a bacon buttie, and donate to help young football players in the Upper Wensleydale.
