Sheeba the boxer rescued from car in Richmond

Firefighters were called today to rescue a dog from a car.

Sheeba the boxer was locked in the vehicle accidentally by the pet’s owner.

The incident happened in Richmond market place at around 2.30pm today.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The man had gone for a walk and and when he got back he locked the dog in the vehicle accidentally along with the keys.

“Obviously with it being a hot day he was concerned and so rang us for help.”

The Richmond crew broke a window to get the keys out.

Earlier today a crew from Acomb in York rescued a calf that had fallen into the River Ouse.

The calf was unharmed, the fire service said.
