Shoppers urged to take advantage of Magic Tenner deals

Organisers of Richmond’s Magic Tenner campaign have urged shoppers to take advantage of the last few days of the scheme.

Businesses across the town are offering deals for £10 as part of the campaign.

Experts say £10 spent in an independent business can mean up to £50 going back into the local economy because, as a study from The New Economics Foundation has shown, most independent businesses work in partnership with many others.

Paul Harrison, chair of the Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association (ORBTA), which is behind the scheme, said: “The money goes round and round Richmond’s economy.

“This strengthens our town and helps small businesses to thrive, making Richmond a better place to live, work and visit.”

The promotion has the backing of national organisation Totally Local.

Founder Chris Sands said: “The Magic Tenner event is a good way for shops to support their communities by offering great deals, and for the community to support those shops that make our towns better places.

“It really is a win-win situation.”
