An investigation has been launched after a man was found with serious head injuries in Colburn.
The man was found collapsed outside the C00p store on Broadway at around 5.40am this morning.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he remains in a serious condition.
Another man has been arrested in connection with the incident and currently remains in police custody.
A large cordon was put in place around shops at the Broadway following the incident.
Businesses inside the cordon were told they would need to remain closed until told otherwise.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances around the incident.
“However, it is believed his injuries were due to a serious assault.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time, who witnessed anything or who may have captured dash cam or doorbell footage which may help the investigation is asked to email sarah.jobe@northyorkshire.police.uk.”
