Shortlist announced for 2022 Richmond Business Awards for Excellence

Baroness Harris of Richmond.

The shortlist has been announced for the 2022 Richmond Business Awards for Excellence following the judging by the nine-strong team earlier this week.

The awards are organised by the Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association (ORBTA), with financial support from The Company of Mercers, Grocers and Haberdashers of Richmond (Yorkshire) Guild and Richmondshire District Council.

Marcia McLuckie, chair of ORBTA, said she was pleased with the number and quality of entries..

“Richmond and the area roundabout has many really good independent businesses and the entries have highlighted the wealth and diversity of businesses, from the very small to the very large, that we have on our doorstep.

“The judging panel spent a long time deliberating over the entries to come, with difficulty, to conclusions over the winners.

“To be honest, I felt they all deserved awards as there is so much talent, innovation and hard work that goes into the businesses in our area.”

Marcia added: “The judges were also extremely impressed by the employees who had been entered into the awards and in many cases these were young people being nurtured by their employers.

“It is wonderful to realise that many of these youngsters will develop and remain as valuable members of the workforce in our area, maybe even start their own businesses, in this outstanding place to live and work’.

The awards will be presented by Baroness Harris of Richmond at a ceremony to be held at the beginning of April.

She said: “It is a great honour to present these prestigious awards – especially as the last two years have been immensely challenging for businesses.

“We have a wonderful selection of independent businesses and I congratulate everyone who entered – and especially the winners of the awards”.
