Sir Ian Botham begins charity golfing challenge

Former England cricketer Sir Ian Botham teed off at the start of a day-long charity challenge this morning.

The Richmondshire resident, together with pro-golfer Andrew Johnston, is playing one hole on 18 golf courses in the 18 first class cricketing counties in one day.

The pair will travel by helicopter for the challenge.

They are raising funds for Beefy’s Charity Foundation.

The pair teed tee at the crack of dawn on the first at Rockliffe Hall near Darlington before heading over to Marriott Worsley, Lancashire, to play the second.

They will zig zag across the country before finally playing the 18th at North Middlesex Golf Club.
