Six chickens killed as Richmond allotments ransacked

Police have issued an appeal for information after six chickens were killed and allotments ransacked.

The incident happened overnight at the allotments in Reeth Road, Richmond.

Police say all buildings on the plot were broken into and the thieves killed six chickens during the raid.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses spate of burglaries which occurred between lateevening of the 5th August and the early hours of 6th August at the allotments located at the bottom of Reeth Road in Richmond.

“Multiple sheds were broken into causing criminal damage and several items stolen.

“One victim has reported a number of chickens have also been killed.”

It is understood a hammer was used to kill the birds.

Crime scene investigators visited the scene this morning.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information or who has CCTV cameras in the area to get in touch.
