Police are appealing for witnesses and information after the burglary in Gatherley Road.

It happened between 12.40am and 1.15am this morning when a group of suspects forced entry to a vehicle compound.

Once inside, police say they targeted high-powered performance vehicles.

They are understood to have driven towards the Darlington area and continued into Cumbria after the thefts.

The Ford Focus was found by officers abandoned and crashed at Barton Truckstop and has been recovered by police.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“In particular, we are appealing for any information relating to any vehicles seen driving in the area matching those stolen and displaying dealership plates or any CCTV or dash-cam footage that may have captured something.

“We are also looking for information relating to the crashed blue Ford Focus which was found at Barton Truckstop.”
