Six players from the same Richmondshire junior football team have been selected to play for North Yorkshire.

The boys all play for Leyburn Utd JFC U15s.

The players selected were Alex Goldie, Harley Allen, Riley Girgan, Aiden Leahy, Harry Bell and Jack Close.

The boys attend schools from across Richmondshire and Hambleton, including the Wensleydale School, Richmond School, Northallerton School and Stokesley School.

The players were selected after a recent trial at Thirsk which was attended by around 80 players from across the county.

Leyburn Utd welfare officer and coach Shane Close said: “We are very proud of the six boys being selected to represent North Yorkshire at county level.

“They are a great bunch of lads and together with the rest of the U15s have had a great season.”

The team plays Saturdays in the Durham-based Russel Foster League, gaining promotion last season and again pushing for the top places this year.

Shane added: “We’re already looking ahead to next season and anyone looking for a challenge at a high level please get in touch.”
