Skeeby man given suspended sentence for assault

A Skeeby man has received a suspended sentence after admitting an assault.

Ethan Wells-Smith, 29, admitted several offences including assaulting a man in Boroughbridge in July this year.

He also pleaded guilty to having an offensive weapon, namely a baseball bat, as well as causing £200 of damage to the victim’s mobile phone during the same incident.

Wells-Smith also pleaded guilty to several motoring offences, including driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

The defendant, from Richmond Road, Skeeby, was sentenced to 28 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months when he appeared at York Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He was also ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and pay fines and costs totalling £472.

An order to confiscate the baseball bat was issued.
