Firefighters were called to a property in Leyburn after an automatic fire alarm was activated by a smouldering crisp packet.
The town’s fire crew attended the incident at about 3.23pm, where they discovered a crisp packet had been left on a hob, causing it to smoulder and trigger the alarm.
Crews inspected the property to ensure there was no further fire risk before giving safety advice to the occupiers.
