A soldier who is taking his daily exercise while wearing a dinosaur costume is proving a popular sight on the streets of Catterick Garrison.

Adults and children alike have been happy to see Kyle Miles — dressed as a 8ft tyrannosaurus — and his dog Nanook run past.

Kyle, 33, who serves with the Royal Lancers, said he started a couple of weeks ago after getting the idea from someone doing something similar elsewhere in the country.

He chooses a different route to run each time he goes out and lets parents know beforehand on social media so that they and their children can keep an eye out.

The father-of-two said: “These are dark times and I though this would be a good idea to cheer people up.

“It’s become a big success — I get people clapping and cheering as I go past, police putting their sirens on and lots of children waving at me.”

Kyle posts details of where he will be running in several Facebook groups including In and Around Catterick Garrison.
