Speed checks planned across Richmondshire

Local police will be checking speeds at locations across Richmondshire this week.

Inspector Martin Metcalfe, from the neighbourhood policing team, said he and his team will be visiting the following places:

  • Several locations in the Richmond area, 3 locations at Leyburn, Skeeby, Hudswell, Catterick village/Garrison, Manfield, Eppleby, Stapleton, Dalton On Tees, Melsonby, West/East Witton, Tunstall, Carlton, Cleasby, Scotton, Gilling West, East/West Layton, Redmire, Scorton, Brompton on Swale, Bellerby, Hunton, Middleham, Hawes, Grinton, Askrigg, Reeth, Aysgarth, Harmby villages, plus Newbiggin near to the Street Head Inn. If you see me around, please feel free to come and speak with me.

He added: “These are just the locations I am personally targeting with my community team and there are others which other teams, such as our toads policing group and Safety Camera vans target.

“I am here to help you, but please be mindful of our local speed limits, especially in the villages and towns.

“I cannot do anymore than warn you that I will be conducting regular speed checks at identified locations.

“These will be at very random times, including when it is dark and there will not always be warnings, but it is important to me that you are aware we are responding to your concerns.”

  1. Wish you could do something about the speeding on Rimmington ave coming out of Richmond and going in from long wood bank. It’s nearly impossible to get out of Theakston lane some mornings. The worst speeders are the school buses.
