A team of sponsors have been out planting standard roses with the organisers of Original Richmond In Bloom.
Soroptimist International Richmond and Dales, Iris Eckersley, Jo Foster, John and Olga Ashton, Dave and Loo Morton, Ian and Val Hepworth, Dennis and Marcia McLuckie and Jonathan Preece on behalf of Richmond Town Council all sponsored the roses.
Some of these sponsors have now planted all the roses in Friary Gardens, adding extra height and colour to this beautiful public space.
Funds are still required for this year’s entry into Yorkshire In Bloom and on Sunday, June 2 the Original Richmond In Bloom team are holding a Big Plant Sale in Richmond’s Market Place.
Stalls including Ravensworth Nurseries, John Meynell, Original Richmond In Bloom, Broaches Farm, Just the Job Environmental Enterprises and Mandy Owen Flowers and Plants have already booked their stands.
Plants, seedlings, cuttings, mature plants that have been split, surplus plants, house plants, unwanted garden tools and second-hand gardening books will all be on sale.
There is still some space at The Big Plant Sale.
Anyone interested in having a stall on Sunday, June 2 should contact Marcia McLuckie on 01748 825525 / 07740 927 608
or marcia@yorkshirecountryholidays.co.uk
There is no charge for the stalls, although a contribution to In Bloom would be welcome. A second Big Plant Sale is to be held on Yorkshire In Bloom judging day, Monday, July 1 from 11am – 4pm.
