St Francis Xavier School in Richmond has been working hard to establish and develop their initial teacher training provision.
There is a current recruitment, development, and retention demand in the teacher labour market within our local area and the aim is to develop local trainees to become outstanding practitioners, which in turn will secure jobs within our schools.
Recently the school has embarked on an exciting opportunity to extend their commitment to excellence through a partnership with Swaledale Alliance and Red Kite Teacher Training to enhance their provision.
Now, as a Lead School for Red Kite, St Francis Xavier School can offer full time, school-based secondary training programmes which also extends to their partner schools across our local area.
This will give trainees the opportunity to experience contrasting placements as well as the flexibility of ‘train where you live’.
This concept is aimed at bringing teacher training to trainees, wherever they live in our region.
The partner schools include, Richmond School & Sixth Form College, Stokesley School & Sixth Form College, Nidderdale High School & Community College, The Wensleydale School & Sixth Form College and Risedale Sports & Community College.
There is also the opportunity to apply for primary teacher training with the Swaledale Alliance in Richmondshire as well as the secondary courses through St Francis Xavier.
The strength of the partnerships with Red Kite Teacher Training allows St Francis Xavier School to deliver high quality, first class training, which is bespoke and personalised to the needs of their trainees.
The school is driven by a united determination to provide the best quality training experience for every trainee, where they will learn from outstanding practitioners and immerse themselves into school life from the outset.
Red Kite are the only provider working with the University of Leeds, and from September 2021 the learning experience with them will be blended to allow trainees to work remotely, regardless of which training partners they have applied through.
The window for applications has already opened for September 2021, so if you are interested in a teaching career and want to train within your local area, contact St Francis Xavier School on ITT@sfxschool.org.uk or 01748 823414.
