Students at St Francis Xavier School in Richmond are celebrating after achieving strong GCSE results across a wide range of subjects.
The school said pupils had achieved a number of exceptional results, with Year 11 leavers now preparing to continue their education at sixth forms and colleges.
Headteacher Mrs Prime said: “Today is a celebration of dedication, resilience, and hard work.
“So many of our students have achieved exceptional results across a broad range of subjects, reflecting the incredible commitment they have shown throughout their time with us.
“Whether exceeding ambitious targets or overcoming personal hurdles with courage and determination, our students have proved what is possible with courage and perseverance.”
Among the individual success stories highlighted by the school were:
- Hamish Cook, who said he was “so relieved and happy” with his results. Hamish is heading to Darlington College to study criminology and law. A member of the Police Cadets, he hopes eventually to join the police.
- Tegan Wainwright, who returned from a sailing adventure with Ocean Youth Trust, sponsored by Richmond Rotary Club, the day before receiving her results. She said: “I am so pleased, I worked really hard for these results.” Tegan will study performing arts, fine art and public services at Carmel College and is currently rehearsing for Matilda with Richmond Operatic Society.
- Emily Brown, who achieved six grade 9s. Emily will continue her studies at QE, where she plans to take French, English literature and fine art.
- Kobe Ryde and Joe Knight, who achieved a total of 11 grade 9s between them. The friends said they were “delighted” with their results. Kobe is heading to Richmond Sixth Form to study maths, further maths, business and computer science, while Joe will attend QE to study maths, further maths, chemistry and biology.
- Holly Thompson, who plays county cricket for Durham and has secured a place at Carmel College to study PE. Holly said: “I am really proud of my achievement, but sad to be leaving SFX! I am particularly happy with my grade 9 in PE.”
Mrs Prime said the results were a shared achievement and thanked staff and parents for supporting the students.
She added: “As our students step confidently into their next chapter – whether in sixth form, apprenticeships, or employment – we look forward to seeing all they will accomplish.
“Huge congratulations to you all!”
