Staff and friends of Mowbray School to take on charity challenge

Staff and friends from Mowbray School in Bedale will take on a mighty challenge for charity later this month.

The team of ten, known as the Mowbray Mighty Hikers, will hike 26 miles around Lake Ullswater in the Lake District.

This event will raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

For some of the team, this is a big challenge and completely out of their comfort zone, said team leader Mhairi Williams.

As a team, the bond and determination to reach the finish line will help overcome any challenges that they may face on the day, she added.

Each team member has pledged to raise £250, a target set by MacMillan.

Mhairi said: “We have been organising various fundraising events in order to meet our target, including a partylite charity night and a treadmill hike at Mowbray Bricks earlier this month.

“We have a bottle tombola and bake sale in the pipeline for later in July, and ee are currently sitting at 58 per cent of our £2,500 team target.”

The team members are: Mhairi Williams, Sharon O’Rourke, Katie Oliver, Rachel Brotherston, Andrena McClements, Ben Noble, John Staple, Amie Clayton, Lorna Stewart and Joanne O’Neill.
