Station Cinema offers tickets in exchange for food donations for festive film

The Station Cinema.

The second annual Cans For Claus event will be held at the Station Cinema in Richmond this weekend.

In exchange for donations of three tins or cans of food, film-lovers can receive one cinema ticket to watch the Christmas classic, Jingle All The Way.

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 1996 hit follows a father vowing to get his son the latest Turbo Man action figure for Christmas, however this isn’t an easy task!

The film will screen twice this weekend at 11am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday and you can watch the film for free in exchange for a food donation.

Tickets are available now and can be collected at the box office by exchanging three canned or tinned items of food to the team at the Cinema box office; which is open from 11am daily.

All donations will be given to the StoreHouse foodbank in Richmond.

General manager Dan Westgarth said: “We saw a tremendous amount of donations last year which were greatly received by the StoreHouse foodbank, helping those less fortunate in Richmond and beyond, and I hope this year we can be just as successful.

“What better way to get into the festive spirit this season, then enjoying a classic Christmas film (who doesn’t love a bit of Arnie?), and helping those in need at the same time?

“It’s an incredibly tough period of the year for many in the area, and hopefully a little support of kindness can go a long way to helping those in need.”

Donations will be accepted during box office opening hours at the Station Cinema across the week.

If you would just like to make a donation, the team at the Station Cinema will be more than happy to receive it to help too.
