Station Cinema to run animation workshops

The Station Cinema.

The Station Cinema in Richmond is offering free animation workshops thanks to a successful grant application to the North Yorkshire Council’s Inspire Fund.

The workshops will introduce children from the age of 7+ to the world of animation, and allow those attending to create and model their very own stop motion animations.

They will also get the chance to see their creations on the big cinema screen

Dates include July 31, August 7, October 30 and December 27 with each workshop beginning at 10am.

General manager Dan Westgarth said: “I’m overjoyed that our grant was successful and it will allow us to build further links with a younger community, and perhaps nurture the future of Hollywood talent.

“We can provide a fun creative and safe space that brings people together, allowing children to enjoy the magic of cinema by making their own stories.

“The cinema is already looking at more filmmaking and industry workshops in the future to accommodate all ages, so this is just the start. Thanks once again to North Yorkshire Council for allowing us to offer these workshops to the community. I’m excited to see what films are made.”

Limited spaces are available for those interested, and the cinema asks that you sign up via the cinema website

With huge demand expected for these funded free workshops, a lottery system will be in place so any interested parties please only select the dates they’ll be able to attend.

30 days beforehand successful winners will be contacted to confirm their place on the workshop.
