The Station Cinema, in Richmond, will this weekend put on a special screening of summer blockbuster Top Gun Maverick for Ukrainian refugees and their host families.

The cinema, which is owned and operated by local charity the Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust, has secured a Ukrainian dubbed version of the biggest hit of the year, which will be screened on Saturday at 4pm.

Free tickets are being offered to Ukrainian refugees and their host families.

Cinema Manager Dan Westgarth said: “The Station is a vibrant community venue, and we wanted to do something to welcome and support Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in the area.

“It’s also an opportunity for us to say thank you to the host families in our community who have opened their homes to those in need.

“We invite any Ukrainian refugees in the local area, and their host families to contact the box office on 01748 823062 during opening hours to claim their tickets.

“Other cinemagoers are also able to watch the Ukrainian dubbed version, with tickets for this screening on general sale now.”
