Station Singers to perform concert at Richmond church

The Station Singers.

The Station Singers will perform a concert entitled Songs for a Fragile World at St Mary’s Church in Richmond on Saturday.

The event which starts at 6.30pm will raise money for the Save Our Swale group.

There will be a chance for audience participation including singing the the folk song Beautiful Dale.

In addition there will be an opportunity to hear songs from the world’s first ecological musical Yanomamo, s powerful story about the fragility of our world and the plight of the Yanomamo and other indigenous tribes still living in the Amazon rain forest.

This has been adapted by the composer Peter Rose for the choirs’ voices as it was originally written for children’s voices in the 1980s.

Although the composer is unable to attend, the lyricist Anne Conlon will be in the audience, making this an extra special performance.

Yanomamo performing rights are donated to WWF every time it is performed and has raised millions of pounds over the years.
