Stunning Swaledale countryside makes charity calendar cover

Seasonal scenes from all corners of the Yorkshire Dales have been brought together for a charity calendar that will raise money to support the local area.

Gracing the cover of the calendar is a photo of Crackpot in Swaledale taken by local photographer Tom Kolour.

Photographs capturing some of the region’s best loved locations, as well as some lesser known views, are featured in the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) 2019 calendar.

This story continues after the adverts:

The images were brought together through a photography competition run in collaboration with Yorkshire Cottages, a long standing supporter of YDMT.

The calendar is on sale now and all money raised will support the people, landscape and wildlife of the Dales, from education and outreach to heritage conservation, habitat restoration and grants for rural communities.

Images include the iconic limestone pavement at Twistleton Scar, a starry night at Ribblehead viaduct, hay meadows at Muker, and a red squirrel at Snaizeholme.

Fundraising & Communications Officer at YDMT, Sarah Petifer said: “We are very grateful to all the talented individuals who shared their favourite images with us and to local photographer Steve Finch who helped us with the tricky task of judging.

“I’d also like to say a big thank you to Fever Digital for very kindly designing the calendar free of charge for us once again.

“We are thrilled with the finished result which is a real celebration of the Dales.”

A sweeping view over Littondale by Alice Cummings scooped first prize, while Malcolm Walker took second place with a photograph of reflections on Malham Tarn.

All the design work for the calendar was carried out for free by Skipton-based design and web agency Fever Digital.

Creative Director at Fever Digital, Jonny Priestley said: “This is the seventh year that we have produced the YDMT calendar and it’s a pleasure to be able to use our skills to support the work of this fantastic organisation.

“We are very lucky to live and work in this beautiful part of the world, and it’s great to know that we are helping YDMT to raise money to support important projects that make a big difference.”
