Suspected drink driver arrested at Richmond police station

A woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after driving to a police station to deal with other driving offences.

The driver of a Honda Jazz visited Richmond police station this week after her other car had been impounded.

Officers smelt alcohol on her breath and a sample showed she had 45 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35.

A spokesperson for Richmondshire police posted on social media: “The awkward moment earlier when the driver of this Honda arrived at Richmond Police Station.

“The lady was attending to bring documents to secure the release of her other car which was impounded over the weekend for traffic offences.

“However the lady clearly hadn’t thought this through. The smell of alcohol on her breath was the give away that something was amiss —  one en route to custody having provided a sample of 45.”
