Two shoplifters have received a formal caution after stealing a TV and bottle of whisky.
The incident happened in the Co-op in Leyburn last week.
Police were alerted after the incident was witnessed by a shopper.
PC Julian Sutcliffe, from Leyburn Police, thanked the shoppers for being alert and urged anyone who sees anything suspicious in local stores to tell staff immediately so the police can be called.
The TV was recovered.
The two men have been banned from all Co-op stores for three years.
