The Swaledale Festival has issued an appeal for new board members and volunteers.
The two-week event, which this year runs from May 27 to June 10, features a varied programme of music, arts and walking.
A spokesperson said: “It’s really rewarding being involved with something that is successful, provides pleasure to lots of people and brings vibrant arts to the Dales, as well as visitors and revenue.
“We also have an extensive community and education programme that takes outstanding musicians into schools and care homes to perform directly for pupils and residents.
“We’ve picked up six major national and international awards over the last few years, including the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2018, in recognition of our strong volunteer ethos. We couldn’t achieve any of what we do without our loyal bunch of volunteers who contribute so much, so willingly, to help make the Festival successful year after year.”
Event organisers are looking for additional board members.
“We would love to hear from you, particularly if you have knowledge, experience and expertise in IT, fund-raising, HR, youth projects and sustainability/environment. What would you get out of it? The sense of satisfaction that comes from contributing to a professional and well-run organisation, working with a stimulating bunch of people and having a lot of fun.”

An appeal has also been issued for new volunteers, with a volunteer briefing held on Wednesday, February 15 from 2.30pm to 4pm at Reeth Memorial Hall.
Roles include stewards, hosts and drivers, with a particular need for ‘village reps’ to help distribute and replenish brochures in the lead-up to the festival, as well as display posters and generally spread the word.
