A Swaledale guest house has won a prestigious award for its breakfast.

Robert and Sheila Mitchell, owners of a five bedroom guest house on the outskirts of Reeth are this week celebrating winning the ‘Best Yorkshire Breakfast’ for the second year running in the Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards; the only Upper Swaledale business to reach the finals.

Both Yorkshire born and bred, Robert and Sheila Mitchell returned to the county to take over Cambridge House in 2013, since when, as well as producing prize winning breakfasts, they have been awarded Visit England’s 5 star Gold Standard status and have made it to the finals of the White Rose Tourist awards for ‘Guest Accommodation of the Year’ three times.

This year’s judge said: “The breakfast that I had was outstanding, both because of the quality of the ingredients and the standard of service. I found all items in my breakfast exactly as I would want them cooked, and happily enjoyed working my way through all of the different jams and preserves.”
