Swimming club gets funding for new diving blocks

The Richmond Dales Amateur Swimming Club has installed six new competition diving blocks at one it is bases thanks to a grant from the district council.

The club received £6,030 from the authority’s community investment fund for its £8,614 scheme to replace the outdated blocks at Catterick Leisure Centre.

They will be available to club swimmers of all ages – and particularly help disabled swimmers, as well as encourage new members from across the county and North-East.

Founded in 1976 the club, which uses both the Catterick and Richmond Pools, has around 130 members.

The district council grant scheme supports community projects or activities.

It has a total allocation of £300,000, with £200,000 ring-fenced for projects which will predominantly benefit the growth areas of Colburn, Hipswell, Leyburn, Richmond and Scotton.
