Richmond Dales Swim Club has raised more than £22,000 to ensure its survival after being affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

And to say thank you for the support every member is set to swim 10,000 metres!

The club, whose members train at Richmond and Catterick Garrison pools, has raised more than £12,500, which will then be matched by a further £10,000 by Sport England.

The club, which has around 130 members, said the pandemic had caused serious financial difficulties for the club.

A crowdfunding campaign will stay open until Friday.

Supporters who make pledges can enter draws to win hampers.

Pledges can also be made in return for gifts such as swimming caps, or services from members, including dog walking, Pilates classes, ironing and gardening.

A club spokesperson said: “We are so grateful to everyone who’s donated, pledged a reward, sponsored our coaches skydive or shared our story.

“With 4 days left until the campaign finishes, there are still some fantastic rewards to be snapped up, so why not take a look.”
