Taxi drivers and firefighters help food bank deliver food to those in crisis

Star Cars taxi driver Dan Coultish arrives to collect a food bank delivery during the first lockdown.

The StoreHouse food bank in Richmond is now delivering food and essentials to those in crisis.

Drivers from Star Cars and staff from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are helping get deliveries out to those who need it.

The food bank is run by the Influence Church in Richmond.

Suz Gregory, from the church, said: “We believe that although this is an uncertain time, it is a time of community and as a church will do all we can to support this.

“Our opening times are 4pm to 6pm on Thursdays at the church in Victoria Road.

“We have launched a new delivery service and are getting support from the fire station and Star Cars, and other individuals who are helping deliver which is amazing.”

Suz added: “We want to remind people that StoreHouse is designed to help people in a crisis situation and for those who can not afford to feed themselves or their families.

“Please only use us if it is essential.”

A donation bin has been out outside the church building from 10am to 6pm, Tuesday to Thursday.
