Teenager’s painting on display at Alexander Palace in London

A painting by a Richmondshire teenager has gone on display at Alexandra Palace in London.

Kayleigh McPherson, 17, got the chance to submit a piece for inclusion while studying at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington.

The former St Francis Xavier student spent three months on the piece, called Skylines, which features the Wright brothers’ first aircraft.

The teenager and her family travelled to London to see the painting at Alexandra Palace.

Her father Mac said: “As her parents myself and Lynda are extremely proud of her art piece and the time she has had to dedicate to this.

“Kayleigh hopes after finishing her second year at QE she will be able to go onto university to continue her passion for art.”
