An exhibition exploring the hidden wildlife of the River Swale is coming to Richmond Library this month, with family-friendly activities planned throughout the half-term holidays.
Local environmental group Save Our Swale (SOS) is hosting ‘The Secret Life of the Swale’, which will run from February 16 to March 31.
The exhibition will shine a spotlight on the rich variety of life found in and around the river, from tiny aquatic insects to the birds, fish and animals that depend on them.
Visitors can enjoy a range of photographs and informative posters, offering an insight into the ecology of the river and the work being done to monitor and protect it.
Children will be able to take part in storytelling sessions and related craft activities, which will be held during the half-term break and on Saturdays, making the exhibition an ideal family outing.
Deborah Meara, chair of Save Our Swale, said: “This is a great way for children to learn more about their local river and how our river insect team is monitoring the life in our beautiful River Swale. It’s also an opportunity for all of us to learn what can be done to help make the river healthier.”
