Applications have opened for The Station Gallery 2027, giving artists across the region the opportunity to exhibit their work at one of North Yorkshire’s most visited cultural venues.
The gallery, based at The Station, is operated by the Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust and attracts more than 410,000 visitors each year. It is housed within a restored Victorian railway station and features three distinct exhibition spaces: the light-filled Mezzanine Gallery, the atmospheric Platform Gallery with its original station flooring, and the contemporary Artisan Gallery.
Each space is available for two- or four-week hire periods, with discounted off-peak rates available in January and February 2027 offering savings of around 30% compared with peak season pricing.
Artists at all stages of their careers are encouraged to apply, including painters, printmakers, mixed media practitioners and textile artists. The programme is designed to showcase a broad range of work and reflect artistic talent from across the region and beyond.
Sarah Iveson, events and gallery manager for RBPT, said the venue was “so pleased to open applications for 2027” and highlighted the gallery’s strong visitor numbers and supportive environment for exhibitors, whether established or emerging.
Gemma Lord, chief executive of RBPT, described The Station Gallery as “a real jewel” within the wider site, adding that it plays an important role in supporting emerging talent and giving artists access to a large and diverse audience.
Exhibitions are selected on merit and to ensure variety across the programme, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis. The Own Art scheme is also available, enabling visitors to purchase original works through interest-free loans.
Applications close at midnight on Sunday, June 14.
