Thieves smash into kennel to steal cocker spaniel Archie

Missing cocker spaniel Archie.

A family say they have been left devastated after thieves smashed their way into a kennel to steal their dog.

Cocker spaniel Archie was taken in the early hours of Friday from his kennel at a farm in Barden, near Leyburn.

The seven-year-old dog belongs to the Birch family.

Emma Birch said: “It’s our 14-year-old daughter Molly who looks after him and has helped train him.

“She’s been left absolutely terrified by the theft,

“We’re all devastated — it’s left a big void in out lives.

“We would appeal to whoever has taken him to just bring him back, we don’t need to know who you are — we just want Archie back.”

The family believes Archie was taken between 1am and 6am on Friday morning.

The thieves used a footpath signpost to smash their way into his kennel.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police one 101 and quote reference number 12220059137.
