Police have issued an appeal for information after thieves stole a number of purses and mobile phones from the changing rooms at Wensleydale RUFC’s Cawkill Park ground.
The incident happened on Sunday, January 7.
Cash and bank cards were stolen along with the purses.
Police say they are currently following up some CCTV enquiries as one of the bank cards has been used.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are currently making enquiries into transactions made on the bank cards which may provide us with some CCTV opportunities.
“Were you at the rugby club on Sunday, January 7? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously? Was there somebody there you have never seen before who could have gone into the changing rooms?”
They added: “Therefore if you do see something you’re not happy with I would urge you to contact the police immediately.
“Who knows, we might be just around the corner and with your help could catch someone up to no good.”
If you have any information about this theft please contact police on the 101 number and quote crime reference number 12240003906.
Unfortunately we find these days that a lot of thefts that occur are of an opportunistic nature.
