Three men were arrested last night in connection with two burglaries and a car theft.

At around 10pm last night, police received information about a potential cloned vehicle travelling southbound on the A1, later identified as stolen during a 2-in-1 burglary in Durham.

Officers immediately headed towards the area and spotted the vehicle.

With assistance from colleagues at Durham Constabulary, the vehicle was brought to a stop and the driver was arrested.

At the same time, police received a report of an attempted burglary at a property in Moulton with several high-value vehicles on site.

The alarm triggered a vehicle to speed off leaving two occupants to flee on foot.

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter was called in to assist, and with their help, another vehicle was stopped shortly afterwards, resulting in the arrest of the two remaining suspects.

The three men, aged 20, 36 and 48 remain in custody for questioning and the investigation is ongoing.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Thanks to the member of public who called in with information and enabled us to respond to the burglary quickly.

“Your information is vital in helping us to keep North Yorkshire safe.”
