Tickets are now on sale for this year’s Richmond Walking and Book Festival, with organisers promising a packed programme of walks, talks and literary events across the region.
The festival’s main programme begins on Friday, 18 September, but activities will get under way earlier with a series of children’s events at local libraries on Wednesday, 5 August, during the school summer holidays.
Organisers say the 2026 programme features a wide variety of guided walks, many of them new to the festival, offering opportunities to explore the landscape while learning about the area’s history, wildlife and heritage.
With walk numbers limited to just 16 participants, festival organisers are encouraging people to book early, as some events are expected to sell out quickly.
Alongside the outdoor programme, the festival will host a diverse range of book-related events covering both fiction and non-fiction, with daytime and evening sessions featuring authors, speakers and discussions designed to appeal to a broad audience.

Tickets can be purchased online, through the festival box office at the Information Centre in Richmond’s Market Hall, or by telephone.
Events taking place at the Georgian Theatre Royal will be handled separately by the theatre’s box office. Tickets for those events will go on general sale from 1 July, while Friends of the Festival will have priority access from 24 June through the theatre.
Festival organisers said the programme offers something for everyone who enjoys the outdoors, literature and lifelong learning, with a mix of established favourites and new events for 2026.
