A former animal feed mill will be the setting for a Christmas experience run by a local events company.
The event will through December on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the first two weekends, and then every day from December 15 to 23 at Uredale Mill in Askrigg.
It will be staged by Incredible Artists, which is also running a Halloween crazy golf at the venue this month.
Dawn Turner, from the company, said: “Far from the usual standing in line for hours to see Santa for a couple of minutes, this is a whole Christmas adventure, that we hope will be one of those things that children will remember into adulthood.
“The experience starts with being inducted into the Elf Academy, and then, under the supervision of the head elf, the new trainees complete a series of tasks, to attain stamps that will enable Santa to certify them later on as a fully qualified elf.
“After completing elf boot Camp, it’s on to the North Pole sorting office where our young guests can write their Christmas wish lists, and then post them to Santa.
“Next follows a magical journey through the land of Narnia, where our intrepid explorers will encounter the Snow Queen, and then on to Who-Ville, and make sure that that they stop the grinch from stealing Christmas.”
Dawn added: “Many parents have disappointing memories of underwhelming Santa experiences.
“Christmas is such a special time for children that we really wanted to make this a magical adventure for them. The whole experience should take about an hour and we have tried to make it as affordable as possible.”
“We have included all the elements that made Christmas so special for us when we were young, and hope that we can help parents to re-create those special memories for their children today.”
