Last year’s league winners Unicorn started their defence of the title with a hard-fought win on Saturday.
The demise of several Wensleydale Creamery League clubs means has meant a number of players swapping allegiances during the close season.
Unicorn’s squad has been beefed up by several new signings, including former Colburn player Tom Sweeney, who got the third goal in their 3-1 win against Catterick Garrison.
A first-half brace from Liam Reeves put the Richmond team ahead.
Matthew Leaf scored for Catterick.
Hawes are another team who have picked up some fresh signings over the summer.
However, it was old boy Tommy Calvert who got the home side off the mark in their 8-0 win over Reeth with a good finish after just 34 seconds.
New arrival Ben Fawcett then got on the scoresheet three minutes later.
Two goals from another new player, Luke Wilkinson, as well as two from Dan Richardson, one from Jordan Iveson and a penalty from Tommy Calvert completed the rout.
In the only other game played on Saturday, Carperby and Spennithorne played out a rare 0-0 draw.
