There was a huge sense of pride and achievement as Richmond School students collected their GCSE and Vocational and Technical Qualification results.
Students, their families and their teachers are celebrating after the results were published.
School leaders say the results show excellent performance in the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) core subjects, with maths and English pass rates being particularly high.
Many students gained superb results with Sophia O’Callaghan achieving a full suite of nine top grade 9s as well as a distinction star in health and social care.
Annabel Gorman, Rose Jury and Diana Murray each achieved nine grade 9s and a grade 8, with Harold Raven and Alex Nimmo achieving fantastic grades, including seven 9s.
Close friends Lucy Denton and Lucy Chandler not only share the same name but are also sharing the same grades, each gaining four grade 9s and six grade 8s in their GCSEs.
Leo Vogel has wowed his teachers after showing the highest progress in the school compared to his targets, coming out with fabulous grades and he is looking forward to returning to Richmond Sixth Form where maths will be his first-choice subject.
Carl Harris made terrific progress during his time at Richmond School and this is reflected in his results.
Carl, who by his own admission is ‘motocross mad’, has raced since he was six years old and is currently placed 12th nationally in class.
Through his interest in bike mechanics and engineering, Carl is heading to Askham Bryan College to study Level 2 and 3 Motor Sport Engineering.
During this time, he will be supported by Star MX who will be offering him work experience opportunities in the repair, service and tuning of motocross bikes.
Charlie Giddens has secured a position with Worldline UK, a global provider of digital payment solutions, where he will be doing a software degree apprenticeship over a number of years.
Other students who have secured apprenticeships include: Leo Russo will join a number of former Richmond School students as an apprentice scaffolder at Swale Scaffolding; Archie Strafford will be working as an apprentice vehicle maintenance technician at Richmond Garage; Summer Stuart has started a barbering apprenticeship with The Barber Shop; Ted Storrow has an apprenticeship working on wind turbines with a renewable energy company; Grace Stephenson is doing a pre-apprenticeship farrier course at Warwickshire College ahead of a four-year farrier apprenticeship; Shakeem Glasgow is returning to Richmond School as a site maintenance apprentice; Jay Jay Pybus is working for Teesdale Renewables as an apprentice plumber: Fraz Proudlock is an engineering apprentice at CJ Tennant Engineering, Benjamin Burns is joining SC Electrics and Miles Livingstone-Owen is doing an agricultural apprenticeship.
Jenna Potter, headteacher, said: “On behalf of all the staff, I wish to congratulate our Year 11 students on their outstanding results.
“Their focus and enthusiasm never diminished, despite the huge disruption to their studies over the last two years.
“The return to a ‘normal’ exam year was always going to be challenging.
“However, our students responded with incredible determination and through the unfaltering support of our dedicated teachers they have the results that will stand them in good stead to embark on their further education or prepare for the world of work.
“I am delighted to see that many of our students have secured highly competitive apprenticeships across a wide range of sectors and I look forward to hearing how their careers develop.
“Whatever our students go on to do, we are thrilled that they will take away great results, lasting memories and friendships from Richmond School onto the next stage in their lives.”
