Richmond Town Council has held its annual Investors in Richmond event.
The Investor in Richmond award acknowledges the voluntary work done by individuals or organisations in the town.
Nominations for the award are made by town councillors or members of the public at the October meeting.
This year’s Investors were:
- David and Jacqui Walker, from the Richmondshire Refugee Support Group. The support group has helped refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and more recently Ukraine settle into the local community.
- Annette Clark for her work with the YMCA, Richmond School, Richmondshire Refugee Support, Richmondshire Concerts Society, Burgage Pastures Committee and Save Our Swale.
- Heart of Richmond (award collected by Lee Whitworth), the organisation are responsible for fundraising for and supplying, the life-saving defibrillators which are now installed and operational should they be required. There are approximately 14 around Richmond so far.
This year, a special recognition award was also given during the evening to the remaining members of Richmond Round Table, who for many years have given up their own time and resources to arrange the town’s Christmas tree.
They source it, arrange relevant permissions and then fell the tree prior to transporting it into Richmond Market Place.
Members also install and decorate the tree in its prominent position by Trinity Tower.
This specialist equipment and all of the tree lighting are provided without charge by Dryad Arb and OS Electrical Services each year.
