Toy donations wanted after firefighters launch Christmas appeal

Richmond firefighters wrap presents for the Christmas toy appeal.

Firefighters in Richmond have launched a toy appeal for those families struggling this Christmas.

After the success of last year’s appeal which supported children at several schools in Richmond, Richmond Fire Station is now offering out the help to other schools in the Richmondshire area.

Temporary crew manager Jon Hancock said: “For many of us Christmas is a magical time, however financial pressures can often cause added stress and difficulty.

“By supporting our Christmas toy appeal you can make a difference. We are working in partnership with primary schools in Richmondshire to identify families who may benefit from this opportunity.

“In order to run the Santa’s Grotto experience for the children, we are hoping businesses and residents can once again give generously to this appeal through Christmas present donations.

“We were amazed and thankful for all the support last year and would love for people to again get involved.”

Presents should be up the value of £15 and suitable for five to 11-year-olds.

Unwrapped gifts can be left at Richmond Fire Station on Gallowgate or the Co-Operative store in Richmond Market Place by December 10.

Businesses willing to donate to the appeal should contact Jon Hancock on 01748 823343 or John.Hancock@northyorksfire.gov.uk for further details.
