Trainee Richmondshire solicitors excel in exams

Trainee solicitors John Barker and Lucinda Watts.

Two trainee solicitors from a Richmondshire firm have excelled in their recent exams.

John Barker, 31, originally from Askrigg in Wensleydale, but who now lives in Darlington, is based at the Scotts Wright Leyburn office.

He is nearing the end of his trainee period and will soon be admitted to the rolls as a solicitor.

This story continues after the adverts:

A former pupil of the Wensleydale School, Leyburn, he read for his LLB (Law) 2.1 degree at Teesside University.

During the past year John has been sitting his Legal Practice Course on a sandwich day-release basis and Scotts Wight say they are delighted to announce that he passed this post-graduate diploma with distinction.

The firm has also recently welcomed a new trainee to their ranks, Lucinda Watts, who has just celebrated her 21st birthday, from Preston-under-Scar.

Lucinda, also a former pupil of the Wensleydale School, gained work experience with Scotts Wright during holidays while she was reading law at the University of Bradford, graduating this summer with a First Class Honours LLB (Law) degree.

She has been based at the Catterick Garrison office dealing with archives while awaiting the start of her traineeship as a solicitor.

She, like John, will do her post-graduate LPC diploma by day release starting next month.
