Tributes paid to Middleham trainer Patrick Haslam

Tributes have been paid to renowned Middleham trainer Patrick Haslam who has died.

Mr Haslam had more than 1,000 winners during his career including one at every course in England, Scotland and Wales.

His big winners included Kinnaird’s victory at the Prix de l’Opera at Longchamp in 2005.

In recent years the trainer and wife Anne have helped their son Ben who now trains at Castle Hill Stables, in Middleham, pictured.

Son Ben tweeted this morning: “Dad you were a brilliant trainer & one of the most respected men I’ve ever known but most of all a very loving father. Will miss you so much.”

Other members of the racing community have also been paying tribute to Mr Haslam on twitter.
