A TV production crew is due to film at Britain’s highest pub next week for a popular drama.

Tan Hill Inn will be shut during the day from Monday to Thursday until 8pm and then until 5pm on Friday.

The name of the drama has not been confirmed with staff at the remote pub sworn to secrecy.

However, there are unconfirmed reports that Vera star Blenda Blethyn has been seen in the area.

The pub posted on social media: “We are very excited about this promotion, where we have insisted that the name of Tan Hill Inn remains during filming and will eventually be shown in over 120 countries and aired in the UK in January.

“It was too good an opportunity to miss. We are not allowed to say which drama it is, until after the filming is finished.”

The pub said the production crew was redecorating the pub and then restoring it to its previous condition.

It will not be the first time the pub has been on the small or large screen.

As well as famously staring in adverts for a double glazing company, Tan Hill appeared in horror movie American Werewolf in London.

The pub has also featured in The Inspector Lindley Mysteries, Murder in Mind, Top Gear, The Fast Show, Wish You Were Here, All Creatures Great and Small, Jude the Obscure and an advert for Vodafone.
