An investigation is underway following a report of a sexual assault involving a teenage soldier at Catterick Garrison.
The government’s Defence Serious Crime Command confirmed on Tuesday, April 21, that two members of the Armed Forces have been arrested.
The arrests relate to an alleged incident last week involving a 17-year-old boy from Fife, who is believed to have been undertaking basic training at the North Yorkshire base.
A spokesperson for the Defence Serious Crime Command said: “Two members of the Armed Forces have been arrested following an investigation by the Defence Serious Crime Command.
“As the matter is subject to an ongoing investigation, we will not comment further.”
According to the Daily Record, it is alleged the teenager was asleep in his barracks when he was attacked by two soldiers in their 20s.
One of the recruits is alleged to have filmed the attack while the other carried out the assault.
The incident came to light when another trainee soldier overheard the two suspects discussing what they had done in the toilet.
He then alerted senior officers.
