Two males are in custody following reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage over a three-day period in Richmond.

North Yorkshire Police said officers became aware of incidents beginning on Tuesday evening, when residents reported youths kicking doors overnight.

Further reports of criminal damage to a number of properties were received in the following days.

Response officers and members of the neighbourhood policing team arrested two males this morning on suspicion of assault and multiple offences of criminal damage.

They remain in custody and are due to be interviewed.

Police said the behaviour is not typical for Richmond and have reassured residents that action has been taken swiftly.

A spokesperson said: “This type of behaviour isn’t something we see often in Richmond. We will not tolerate anti-social behaviour, and with those responsible identified quickly and arrested, we will ensure they are dealt with positively to prevent further offending.”

The investigation remains ongoing, and officers are appealing for further information.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone living in the Bridge Terrace and Quakers Lane areas of Richmond, where several incidents have already been reported.

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote crime reference 12260031442.
