A van driver was detained for driving while being unfit through drink or drugs after a crash last night.
The collision occurred on the A66.
Police say the driver was lucky to suffer only minor injuries.
A sample was obtained for analysis and police say the driver will be interviewed in due course.
In a separate incident a female driver was arrested after providing a positive test for cocaine.
Police said the woman was already pending the result from another drug drive arrest a few days ago.
